Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Quiz Night ("the app", "we") collects, why, and your choices. It is written to match what the app actually does.

Who we are

Quiz Night is operated by Letterpot Studio. For any privacy question, contact quiznightapp@proton.me.

What we collect

• Account — your email address, used to create and sign in to your account (authentication is handled by our backend provider, Supabase). We store a password only in the provider's secure, hashed form; we never see it in plain text.
• Profile — an optional display name ("handle") you choose. It is shown to other players on the leaderboard, so choose a name you're comfortable sharing.
• Gameplay — the rounds you play, your answers, scores, streaks, and daily check-ins. This runs the game and the leaderboards.
• Virtual currency & purchases — your coin balance and a record of in-app purchases (platform, transaction id, product, amount). Payment itself is processed by Google Play; we receive only the purchase receipt needed to verify it and credit your coins. We never receive or store your card details.
• Safety — reports and blocks you submit, used to keep the leaderboard free of abusive content.
• Technical — standard request/technical data (e.g. IP address, timestamps) processed by our backend and Google Play as part of delivering the service.

We do not collect contacts, location, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

How we use it

• To provide the game, your account, leaderboards, check-ins, and purchases.
• To verify purchase receipts and credit virtual currency.
• To operate safety features (reporting, blocking, and banning abusive users).
• To secure the service (e.g. rate limiting, abuse prevention).

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Virtual currency

Coins are a virtual, in-app currency. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and are non-refundable except where required by law.

Who we share it with

• Supabase — our backend and database host (stores your account and game data on our behalf).
• Google Play — processes payments and provides purchase verification.
• Open Trivia Database — the source of trivia questions (CC BY-SA 4.0). No personal data is shared with them.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the service and its users from harm.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing quiznightapp@proton.me; we will delete it within a reasonable period, except records we must retain for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons (e.g. purchase records).

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. under the GDPR or CCPA) you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact quiznightapp@proton.me.

Children

Quiz Night is intended for a general audience aged 13+ and is not directed at children under 13. It offers real-money in-app purchases, so it is not a child-directed app. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is stored with our backend provider using industry-standard protections. Access to the database is restricted to server-side functions; the app never reads the database directly. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date reflects the latest version. Material changes will be surfaced in the app or by other reasonable means.
